Water Images

A new interest, exploring the visual qualities of water surfaces which is allowing experimentation with different techniques.

The print ‘Confluence’ uses traditional reduction printing techniques, Woodcut on one side of the paper and Linocut on the other. It is printed on fine tissue paper this allows glimpses from each image to be seen through the paper either side, adding to the maelstrom effect of currents and ripples caused by wind on the water surface.

‘Wind Ruffled Water’ and ‘Back Scattering Light’ are complex studio prints, developed from memory and simple in-situ sketches. This distance from the subject matter has enabled me to play with my longstanding interest in Fine Lettering alongside depth and surface texture.
